Trump has long wanted to eliminate the U.S. government’s ban on owning exotic animals and instead give them to “wilderness, nature preserves, and national parks” to preserve biodiversity.
Now, the President is asking the U,S.
Fish and Wildlife Service to expand the definition of an exotic animal, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.
Trump’s proposal would allow him to “take, kill, or possess any animal or plant of any type as defined in the Endangered Species Act, as well as any other species not listed as an endangered species.”
Trump’s plan also would “revoke any permit, license, or registration issued to any person or entity that has an exotic or threatened species” and would “restrict the sale or transportation of exotic wildlife products to any state, local, or tribal government.”
